As a research student (m/f/d) at the Smartstep Data Institute (SDI), you will support us on healthcare research projects and gain practical insights into secondary data analysis and real-world evidence in the German healthcare system, including in the context of AMNOG benefit assessments.
You will conduct research in academic databases, contribute to publications and study protocols, and put forward your own ideas for new project approaches. We are looking for a curious, meticulous individual who is passionate about health services research and data-driven work.

Your mission
- Conducting literature reviews and extracting information from scientific databases
- Contributing to the preparation of scientific publications, reports and presentations
- Assisting with the drafting of study protocols, statistical analysis plans and research grant applications
- Assisting with the creation of variable lists based on medical classification systems (e.g. ICD, ATC, OPS)
- Research into new project ideas, funding opportunities, data sources and the potential for using secondary data (including in the context of AMNOG and RWE)
- Assisting with quantitative analyses
Your profile
- Medical informatics or a comparable field of study
- A keen interest in issues relating to the healthcare system, healthcare research and the pharmaceutical market
- Basic proficiency in quantitative methods and a passion for data-driven, scientific work
- Some experience with analytical software (e.g. R) or medical classification systems (ICD, ATC) would be an advantage, but is not essential
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
- Very good written and spoken German and good to very good written and spoken English
- A meticulous, structured approach to work, reliability and a passion for teamwork
